Final Vote Results Expects To Release Next Week: IEC
KABUL: (Middle East Press) The Independent Election Commission (IEC) said they are expecting to announce the final vote results for the runoff presidential election by the next week.
The officials in IEC further added that the technical process of the vote audit and recount process will be done by the end of this week.
In the meantime, IEC spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor urged presidential candidates to reach an agreement as soon as possible in order to form a unity government before the final vote results are released.
Noor further added that the people of Afghanistan who have voted are waiting for the release of the vote results.
He called on the contenders to fulfill their commitments they reached during US Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Kabul last month.
This comes as presidential candidate Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said Monday that his team will not accept the election results, insisting that the political process of the presidential election has entered a deadlock.
