Foreign Minister of China in Kabul for Afghan Peace talks

The Chinese Foreign Minister has come to Kabul to once again raise the quadrilateral meeting for Afghan peace and provide his country’s host conditions.

Wang Yi has arrived in Kabul today (24 June) and is scheduled to meet with senior officials in the country.

Resources told the Middle East Press the main goal of the Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit was to reopen Afghanistan’s peace talks and set up a quadrilateral meeting in Beijing.

According to the sources, Mr Wang Yi will meet with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, National Security Advisor and Deputy Foreign Minister.

The talks will be discussed with the government leaders on hosting China from the Quartet Summit and mediation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

At the same time, Sartaj Aziz, the Pakistani Foreign Minister Advisor wrote on his Twitter account that the Chinese Foreign Minister is talking with Afghan leaders about improving the relations between Kabul and Islamabad.

The Afghan Peace Talks have been held several times in three or four quarters with the participation of the countries of the region, in particular China and Pakistan, none of which has reached the desired result and ended with a lack of integrity of the participating countries, especially Pakistan.
