Gulbuddin Hekmatyar Holds Discussion With New Afghan Government

KABUL: (Middle East Press) The leadership of Hezb-e-Islami-led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has decided to hold talks with the new government of Afghanistan which is due to be formed once audit process has been completed.

Qarib-ur-Rehman Syed, former spokesman and executive member of Hezb-e-Islami has told BBC Farsi that Hezb-e-Islami will also open its cooperation office in Kabul if the group’s conditions have been met.

Syed has said that complete departure of foreign forces from Afghanistan is one of the main condition of Hezb-e-Islami party for talks, and the exact date of foreign troops pullout should be specified.

He also added that the people of Afghanistan should have necessary freedom in the next government and it is one of the other conditions of Hezb-e-Islami.

Syed criticized the current situation in Afghanistan which is in internment of United States and its allies including United Kingdom.

According to Syed, the recent visit by US Secretary of State, John Kerry, shows that Afghanistan is captive of United State’s and its allies.

Syed is currently resting outside Afghanistan and is one of the close aides of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, and is expected to be appointed as head of Hezb-e-Islami liaison office in Kabul.

He claimed that the Hezb-e-Islami members are having dynamic formal and non-formal activities across Afghanistan, and said Hezb-e-Islami will stand by the next government of Afghanistan if the bilateral security agreement with Washington was not signed.
