‘Insecurity And Terrorism Is Not An Excuse For Lack Of Reforms’
MEP: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in the presence of senior government officials and donor countries to Afghanistan, said insecurity and the threat of terrorism cannot be an excuse for not bringing the reforms.
“The government believes and adheres to its commitment towards reforms,” he said at ‘The Special Joint Coordination and Monitoring Board (JCMB) on ‘The Brussels Conference on Afghanistan’ which was held on Sunday in Kabul.
“I have taken a corrupted government as legacy and will try to control this corruption,” the President added.
He believes that with the assistance of donor countries will be successful in the control of corruption.
Mr. Ghani said corruption is one of the major factors of poverty and creation of economic classes in the community, adding that as long as the violence does not go away, poverty will not be eradicated.
With these statements, the President noted that the people want change and this will end only when the government eliminate corruption and insecurity.
Meanwhile, President Ghani referred to different survey results in the country and said that all these results show that people want education for their children and the government is committed to provide these conditions for people.
On the other hand, Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance at the meeting, presented a report on the programs and functions of the state.
He said the government on its commitment to move towards self-sufficiency, which was promised at the London summit; works and has also done work in this direction.
Hakimi pointed to the proliferation of 1.2 billion dollars in revenue, the selection of four ministers, nine deputies and four female ambassadors, creation of a judicial fight against corruption and strengthen the private sector, especially the artisan women in the country said, “the implementation of the reform program requires a joint effort of the Afghan government and the international community.”
Finance Minister added the judicial fight against corruption, has to review 20 cases of major corruption, including some senior government officials’ cases.
The Brussels Conference is a meeting dedicated to Afghanistan and will be held next month in Belgium.
