Iran, Russia FMs Meet in Dushanbe

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met in Tajik capital, Dushanbe, on the sidelines of the fourteenth summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The two sides discussed the existing negotiations between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – Russia, China, the United States, France and Britain – plus Germany over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program.

They also talked about the achievement of agreements, expert-level talks and the upcoming prospect of the nuclear talks.

Zarif and Lavrov also examined bilateral and regional issues, including the crisis in Ukraine, terrorism in Iraq and the political situation in Afghanistan.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, met on the sidelines of the SCO summit.

The two presidents stressed the need of promoting bilateral relations in all pasture.
