Iran seeks criminal check of Israel against Gaza violence

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Iran decides to seek criminal trial of the Zionist regime through international channels for the huge onslaughter it has committed against the Palestinian citizens of the besieged Gaza Strip, a senior official says.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, along with political, diplomatic and compassionate support for the Palestinian people, has put official support on its schedule to bring to justice the criminal leaders of the Zionist regime,” said Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a televised interview with an Iranian TV station on Sunday.

Amir-Abdollahian also said that discussions have been organized with international legal experts in that regard, adding, “Among the local and Western countries exists the potential to activate that device.”

The Iranian official further said that the issue of Israel’s prosecution is expected to be put forward at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Palestine group of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) currently underway in Tehran.

He also added that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, whose country holds NAM’s rotating presidency, has invited the 13 members of the team to take part in the one-day meeting.
Countries such as Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Colombia and Cub are members of the NAM Palestine committee.

According to Amir-Abdollahian, more than 40 countries will be present at the meeting at the level of foreign ministers and prominent delegations.

He said that the meeting is aimed at putting pressure on the Israeli regime to end its crimes against Gaza residents and guarantee the organization of a ceasefire in Gaza.
