Iran’s Cooperation With Afghanistan In Fight Against Drug Trafficking

MEP: Iranian Interior Minister Abdulreza Rahmani Fazli in a meeting with Salaamat Azimi, Afghanistan’s counter-narcotics Minister has said his country is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in the fight against drug trafficking.

Iranian Interior Minister has stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran will work in the fields of alternative cultivation and use of the labor force works to reduce drug trafficking in Afghanistan.

The two leaders met on Monday evening.

Fazli said foreign countries are not concern about the fight against drug trafficking and security in the region, the neighboring countries should help each other in this area.

Iran’s Interior Minister added the Afghan government should be more serious to pursue alternative culture in the country and our emphasis is on the development of the country and providing material assistance as well as intelligence, especially launching large agricultural projects in Farah Province.

Fazli also asked the Afghan authorities to deal with human trafficking and its negative consequences to pursue the proposed Islamic Republic of Iran for the Afghan nationals virtual trip to Iran using 3 or 6 month extended work visa.

He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to transfer the experience of the anti-drug police in counter-narcotics and dangerous chemicals and training the Afghan security forces.

For his part, Afghanistan’s Minister of Counter Narcotics appreciated the unwavering support of the Islamic Republic of Iran in all areas of Afghanistan, particularly to help educate Afghan citizens, called for Iran’s support for the creation of large libraries in Afghan cities to attract young people to study and stay away from addiction and trafficking of narcotics.

He said the Islamic Republic of Iran in all difficult situations has stood with the people and government of Afghanistan.
