Joint efforts for Afghanistan stability vowed in New Delhi summit

KABUL: (MEP) – Russia, China and India have promised to conduct joint efforts for peace and stability of Afghanistan.

In the 12th meeting this time held in New Delhi, the foreign ministers of the three countries said terrorism and extremism were the biggest threats to Afghanistan.

Inclusive peace program was the key to the stability of Afghanistan, the participants declared.

Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said, “Russia, India and China won’t miss any chance of building a peaceful, independent and prosperous Afghanistan. We agreed to strengthen our cooperation in the United Nations and Shanghai Cooperation Organization.”

“We have a joint vision of development in Afghanistan that needs further efforts of the international community, and first of all, Afghanistan’s neighbors, to avoid the threat of terrorism and drug trafficking,”

The Chinese foreign minister said transparent elections and the peaceful transfer of power would be the guarantor of stability in Afghanistan, aryana news reported.

“Afghanistan’s issue is a matter of great concern for regional countries such as China, India and Russia. We want a secure, stable and united Afghanistan that should have development too. We always have respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan,” Wang Yi, foreign minister of China.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister of India, Salman Khorsheed, said, “We had very constructive discussion on counter-terrorism. We want to fight against drug which is an equal threat like terrorism. Actually, drugs and terrorism are bound to each other as drugs strengthen terrorism.”
