Karzai Meets Presidential Candidates at ARG Dinner

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with the presidential candidates Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in ARG presidential palace on Tuesday evening.

Aimal Faizi, spokesman for President Karzai, in an online statement said the two candidates also attended a dinner hosted by President Karzai in presidential palace.

Faizi further added Hamid Karzai discussed the issues and progressions surrounding the electoral process with Dr. Abdullah and Dr. Ghani.

He said the first Younus Qanooni and second vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili also attended the discussion between President Karzai and the two contenders.

According to Faizi the meeting also focused on development issues including economic vision of the country, energy sector and security related matters.

This is the second President Karzai’s meeting with the two presidential contenders discussing the election issues.

President Karzai in his earlier meeting with the presidential candidates asked to end the election process quickly so that the next Afghan leader can take pledge by the end of this month and attend the NATO meeting in Wales.
