KABUL: (Middle East Press) A senior Taliban chief was arrested along with his three companions in northeastern Takhar province.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) following a statement said Tuesday that Mawlavi Abdul Rahman who is also recognized as “Palang” is the Taliban group’s Mufti and suicide attack organizer in Takhar province.

The statement further added that three other Taliban leaders, Mawlavi Abdul Khaliq, Qari Shafiqullah and Qari Asadullah were arrested along with Mawlavi Abdul Rahman.

MoI said the Taliban leader was involved in major terrorist attacks including roadside bombings, suicide attacks and other insurgency activities in Northern provinces of Afghanistan, especially in Takhar province.

The detained Taliban leaders have admitted that they were involved behind major terrorist attacks in Northern provinces including Takhar.

The statement also added that the under arrested leaders have also confessed that they were acting directly on instructions of foreign intelligence agencies located on the other side of the border.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report yet.
