Khamab city in Jawzejan province fell into Taliban hands without any clash

“Khamab city in Jawzejan province was given over to Taliban last night without any clash and the Afghan security forces have gone to the Turkmenistan border” Jawzejan provincial council said

Abdulhai Hayat, head of Jawzejan provincial council, told the Middle East Press Taliban moved from Mangajak city, entered Khamab city from different directions and occupied the district governor building and other relevant parts.

As he said the security forces and public uprising fled from the city and left Khamab behind to the armed Taliban.

Hayat emphasized Khamab borders Turkmenistan so it is of great importance.

The head of Jawzejan provincial council said the security forces have fled to Turkmenistan border.

Meanwhile, Mal Paswal Rahmatullah Torkestani, the Jawzejan provincial police commander, in his talk to The Middle East Press confirmed Khamab has fallen into Taliban hands.

He added last night, 5 villages 4 kilometers away from Khamab city were given away to Taliban by the public uprising force and about 20 armed Taliban let by Mulla Majid, the Taliban shadow district governor, moved in.

“The security forces are getting ready to retake the villages” he added

Armed Taliban have yet to comment regarding the issue.
