‘Military Helicopters Transport Equipment To Taliban In Areas Where Foreign Troops Are Present’

MEP: While an MP claims that based on the evidence at hand, in some districts of Badakhshan province, the military helicopters carry equipment for armed Taliban, but security officials in the province reject the claim.

General Nazifa Zaki, a member of the House of Representatives in plenary session today (October 15) stated that military helicopters transport necessary equipment for the armed Taliban in the districts of Yamgan, Warduj, Jurm and Dara-e-Khostak.

To prove her words, she has video and photos that indicate a helicopter transporting equipment to the areas mentioned, she added.

Mrs Zaki further added that foreign forces are also present in the districts, but so far it is not clear how and by whom these facilities are transferred to the Taliban?

Meanwhile, Badakhshan security officials reject this claim.

Masoud Arshad, Spokesman for Badakhshan Police chief told the Middle East Press, “Anyone who claims this report, must speak out with evidence and give the documents to the country’s security authorities.”

He stated that no military helicopters have been transmitted equipment to Taliban and this is completely unfounded.

Arshad said security forces have control of parts of Badakhshan and they have not been witnessed to any transport of equipment, or helicopters to the armed Taliban, but for the existence of this approach will be seriously dealt with.

In the meantime, Naweed Frotan, Badakhshan governor’s spokesman, said in an interview with Middle East Press that the districts of Yamgan, Warduj, Jurm, Raghistan and parts of Yaftal are in the hands of the Taliban.

About the statements of Nazifa Zaki, a member of parliament, Frotan said: “As a lawyer, she has the right to express her concerns, but security officials must respond to these allegations and it’s not in my competence.”

Transport of equipment by helicopters to the Taliban is not unprecedented; the allegations on the transfer of equipment to the Taliban in Baghlan and Helmand provinces were also raised and since the Taliban in clashes with security forces, use the same advanced and similar equipment as Afghan troops use, is the reason that concerns about the transfer of equipment to the Taliban is right.
