MoD: Clashes in Sar-e-Pul Left 12 ANA Dead

KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least 12 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred and 18 others were wounded during clashes in northern Sar-e-Pul province, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

MoD spokesman, Gen. Zahir Azimi, said the Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were ambushed by Taliban terrorists in Laghman village of Kohistanat district.

Gen. Azimi further added that the injured army workers were taken to hospital after additional forces were deployed to fight the militants.

He said Taliban terrorists have also suffered deep fatalities during the gun battle.

Gen. Azimi said an investigation has been launched and further details about the deadly incident will be released once the investigation concludes.

The Taliban terrorists group has not commented about the incident yet.

This comes as local officials said Monday that a number of police forces were also killed or injured following the clashes.
