MOI: 36 Taliban rebels killed, 5 injured in Afghan operations

KABUL: (MEP) – At least 36 Taliban militants were killed and five another injured during military operations by Afghan and coalition security forces in various provinces of Afghanistan.

The interior ministry of Afghanistan following a statement on Saturday confirmed 36 Taliban militants were killed during joint military operations during the past 24 hours.

The statement further added that the operations were conducted on Nangarhar, Parwan, Zabul, Uruzgan, Maidan Wardak and eastern Ghazni province, Khaama reported.

Interior ministry in its statement also added that the operations were conducted by Afghan national police in coordination with the Afghan army, Afghan intelligence and NATO-led coalition security forces.

At least five Taliban militants were also injured and three others were detained during the operations, interior ministry said in its statement.

Afghan and coalition security forces discovered and seized some weapons, ammunition and explosives during the operations.

According to interior ministry officials, Afghan national police also seized 6 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from Nangarhar, Laghman, Takhar and Herat province.

Taliban militants yet to comment regarding the reports
