After several missile firing, North Korea tested new ballistic missile.
Officials in South Korea and Japan say the missile, which launched from north-western Kusong, reached an altitude of 2,000km.
U.S. President Donald Trump has called for “stronger sanctions” against North Korea, while China, North Korea’s only major ally, is urging restraint by “all relevant parties”.
According to a Kremlin spokesperson, the test has also concerned Russian President Vladimir Putin.
A series of North Korean missile tests which are banned by the UN has sparked international alarm and raised tensions with the United States.
North Korea is believed to be developing an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) tippled with a nuclear weapon that is capable of reaching the United States.
ICBM is considered to have a range of more than 6,000 km.
