KABUL: (MEP) A number of Taliban militants stormed Kandahar airport and opened fire late Tuesday night, leaving one soldier injured, local officials said.
The attack took place around 6:30pm when ten militants wearing security force uniforms attacked the airport compound and clashed with security forces.
Spokesman for the Kandahar Governor Samim Khpolwak said: “The attackers initially entered Shaheed Padshah School and Teachers Training Center and started attacking the police and army compound near the airport.”
All the attackers were killed in the clash with the security forces, according to officials.
There is no exact information about the number of casualties – of either civilians or Afghan security forces – except for the one injured soldier, said officials.
The Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the attack.
