Pomegranate production on increase in Farah

KABUL: (MEP) – The production of pomegranate has risen as compared to past years in the western province of Farah, provincial agriculture director said.

Engineer Abdul Manan Mateen said about two thousand and four hundred hectares of land were cultivated with pomegranate.

He noted this year they produced thirty thousand pomegranates which have been unprecedented in the past.

The agriculture director stated that the pomegranates of Farah were being sent to many of the provinces.

Matin, however, complained they had not enough place and facilities to protect and preserve the products, Ariana news reported.

Meanwhile, the farmers in a gathering expressed their concerns over various diseases hitting their crops.

Currently, about seventy percent (70%) population of Afghanistan is engaged in agriculture. They called on the government to provide them with facilities in order to boost agriculture production.
