Seminar on anti-corruption held in Kabul

KABUL: (MEP) – Afghanistan Justice Organization (AJO) conducted a seminar on anti-corruption here in Kabul, where combining civil society and the government efforts to eliminate the phenomenon was called effective.

The half day seminar was conducted at the Moon Hotel Hall in the capital, by the Afghanistan Justice Organization (AJO).

Participants of the seminar discussed three issues related to anti-corruption in Afghanistan such as “what is the current situation of corruption in Afghanistan and what anti-corruption mechanisms have been taken to address this issue? What role has CSO’s played in the fight against corruption and which of these efforts been productive and which have proven unproductive?”

How can CSO better coordinate their anti-corruption efforts with the next Afghan government to fight against corruption as we enter the decade of transformation (2014-2024)?

Experts from different organizations participated in this seminar and discussed on the issues which set in the agenda, WNA reported.

Dr. Aziz Lodin, former Director of High Office of Oversight on Corruption, Dr. Wadir Safi and Nasrullah Stanikzai, Professors of Law and Political Science Faculty of Kabul University, Fazil Ahmad Faqiryar, Deputy High Office of Oversight on Implementation of Anti – Corruption Strategy, Abdul Ghafoor Liwal, Director Afghanistan Regional Studies Center, Moieen Jawhary, Executive Director of MEC were amongst other participants ofthe seminar.

The seminar participants came up with recommendations aimed at the government, civil society and media to better organize efforts in fighting corruption in Afghanistan.
