Six Police Officers Martyred in Herat Province
KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least six police officers were martyred following an ambush by Taliban insurgents in western Herat province.
According to local officials, the incident took place in Chesht district on Tuesday.
Obe district police chief, Sher Aqa Alokozay said Taliban insurgents ambushed a convoy of the police forces while they were on the way to Chesht district.
Alokozay further added that six police officers were martyred and five others were injured following the attack.
The Taliban insurgents group has not commented about the incident yet.
Meanwhile, another security official said the death toll has increased to nine personnel.
The official speaking on the condition of secrecy said at least three policemen are also missing following the attack.
