Special Audit Of 6,000 Ballot boxes Begins Saturday
KABUL: (Middle East Press) According to election officials, the special audit and vote recount of 6,000 ballot boxes chosen by the two presidential campaigns will start on Saturday.
Noor Mohammad Noor, spokesman for the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan, said the special audit will be conducted by 24 teams.
According to IEC officials the audit of 6,000 ballot boxes will have a direct collision on the final result of the election.
The officials are saying that the article 16 of the audit criteria which states that all ballot boxes having a difference of 100% or more ballots than the first round of election, should be strictly audited.
Both the electoral camps of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai have agreed to check the 6,000 ballot boxes which belongs to polling stations where huge fraud is believed to have taken place.
According to reports, around 9,000 ballot boxes have been audited so far and IEC officials are saying that the audit teams have been increased from 200 to 240 teams in a bid to speed up the audit and recount process.
Aroud 23,000 ballot boxes which forms 100% of the total votes casted during the election runoff, are expected to be reviewed.
