Stability In Afghanistan Guarantees Global Security

KABUL: (MEP) – Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan with the world community utilized all available sources to persuade the armed insurgents to denounce violence, endorse constitutions and attend the peace negotiation table in order to restore longstanding peace and security in the war-devastated country. But these efforts not yielded positive outcomes and the Taliban and their collaborators never responded positively to the peace slogans of the government.

Afghanistan has been the victim of international terrorism and interferences of the neighboring countries over the last thirty years and these meddling have left pathetic repercussions of Afghanistan’s socioeconomic spheres. President Hamid Karzai as part of his peace gestures and efforts formed the High Peace Council to accelerate peace negotiation process with the Taliban. But the nation still awaits outcomes of these talks. Until now hundreds of women and children have been killed or wounded as a result of suicide attacks and destructive activities conducted in the villages and cities of the country by the Taliban and other terrorist organizations. Analysts believe that restoration of long term peace and purposeful peace negotiation talks are related to the willingness of the warring factions and parties to the peace, BNA reported.

So it’s quite significant to pave the way for an environment that convince the armed Taliban and other groups to sit under one roof and settle the issues. The people of Afghanistan expect that the neighboring Pakistan contribute in this sphere honestly and use its influence on the Taliban group to endorse the pace talks and avoid damaging and killing the Afghan civilians. It’s proved that without honest cooperation of neighboring Pakistan, restoration of peace and security in Afghanistan isn’t applicable. Pakistan always pledged to sincerely cooperate in the war against international terrorism and extremism, but the neighboring country never bothered to take sincere steps against terrorism and it continued harboring militancy and extremism. Pakistan should realize that the flame of war which burning Afghanistan will destroy its own people.

Over the course of history Afghanistan has strived to forge friendly relations with all countries including its neighbors. Because Afghanistan believes that regional harmony and cooperation is the only alternative to lead the nations towards social, economic and political stability. The threats fueled to world peace and security by terrorism is a horrible trend in the 21st century era. The civilized world has now realized that repercussions of terrorism and extremism could be catastrophic and this will lead the modern world towards the clash of civilizations. Considering the damaging consequences of terrorism and extremism, international community is obliged to continue supporting Afghanistan in the longstanding period in order to help the country to get on its own feet and achieve self-reliance in economic and military sectors.

Because putting Afghanistan into international isolation could support the terrorist organizations to reintegrate in the Afghan soil and pose threats to world peace and stability.  Undoubtedly, Afghanistan with the joint and generous financial and moral cooperation of world community gained historic achievements in various socioeconomic and political spheres. Today the country is able to provide services to its citizens even in the remote regions while twelve years back the country was an internally isolated and impoverished nation on earth. But since start of international mission, Afghanistan obtained major development in health, education, transportation, telecommunication, rule of law, social service, aviation, training, vocation skills, and higher education, commerce and transit ties. Afghanistan succeeded to form its armed services including the National Army (ANA) Afghan National Police (ANP) and the Directorate of National Security (NDS). But protection of these achievements still needs cooperation of the world community. In the first step the allies of Afghanistan should provide military equipment to the Afghan National Security forces (ANSF) so that these forces are able to tackle security threats on their own post-2014.

Secondly international community should invest on Afghanistan’s infrastructural projects in order to help it boost its agriculture sector and national economy and decrease burdens on shoulders of the donor nations. It’s quite important to mention that protection of these achievements requires longstanding support of international community. Because the terrorist organizations intend to enhance their activities in the Afghan soil following foreign troops pullout in 2014. But it’s also a warning to the European countries. Because terrorists are enemy of the humanity particularly western community and they will strive to assault on the western interests if not repressed on their hideouts and training camps beyond Afghan borders.
