‘Turkey Needs Saudi Arabia To Maintain Its Relation With Arab Countries’

MEP: Sultan Bin Salman, President of Tourism and Heritage, said on Wednesday that King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, traveled to Turkey after having been invited by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish president.

Based on Turkey president’s call on Bahrain to act as an intermediary to improve relations between Turkey and Egypt, Bahrain’s ruler promised to hold a meeting in order to negotiate with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Turkey.

Then, at the request of Turkish Foreign Minister, Adel al-Jubeir went to Turkey on September 7th, and in the same framework, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Muhammad bin Nayef, Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs visited Turkey to reassure the Turkish side of the relations with Arab countries.

In the meantime, Sultan bin Salman of Saudi Arabia pointed to the fact that Turkey admitted to Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role. He also said that this will lead to Turkey’s further attention to Muhammad bin Nayef’s trip to Turkey.

He continued by adding that looking back at the checkered history of Turkey’s relation with Arab states, having relations with Saudi Arabia today is a prerequisite for establishing relations with Arab countries. Then at the end of the meeting he said: “Saudi Arabia’s response to the past events in Turkey was in favor of the expediency of the country.”
