Victim of Domestic Violence, Setara, Returns Home
KABUL: (MEP) – Setara who had her nose and lips cut off by her husband has returned home, western Herat province, after treatment in Turkey.
The mother of four children was beaten and mutilated after refusing to sell her jewelry to fund the heroin addiction of her husband.
She was then shifted to Turkey for further treatments but her husband could manage to escape—and he is still not arrested.
Setara, who has just returned home after treatment, said she was now in good health situation—and can also speak and eat.
“I am currently good, the operation was also good but I will have two more surgeries in Turkey in near future,” she said. “My small kids don’t recognize me, they fear of me, I don’t look normal.”
The chief prosecutor of Herat said efforts were underway to arrest Setara’s husband—and her security was the top priority.
“We are happy to see Setara is in good condition, she passed two surgical operations, we will try our best for her security and treatment,” said Maria Bashir, chief prosecutor of Herat.
The governor of Herat Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi also promised to ensure safety of Setara.
