Armed Taliban Stormed Security Post In Farah, Killing 10 Policemen
MEP: At least ten Afghan soldiers have been killed after the armed Taliban attacked a police checkpoint in the area of Shamalgah in the provincial capital of Farah province, local officials said.
Jamila Amini, Farah provincial council head told the Middle East Press, the incident took place on Friday evening.
She said ten policemen were in the checkpoint that after a high resistance by the armed Taliban, were killed and their equipment also fell into the hands of the group.
“Reinforcements also arrived late in the region,” she added.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Nasser Mehri, a spokesman for the governor of Farah province in talks with the Middle East Press confirmed the attack on the checkpoint and said that five policemen were killed in the assault.
According to the source, with the arrival of reinforcements, seven armed Taliban were killed and four others wounded and shell is currently in the hands of government forces.
The armed Taliban confirming the incident said, that nine policemen have been killed in the attack.
Mehri, however rejected the transfer of military equipment by the Taliban.
