Kidnapped Iranian Citizen Freed In Herat

MEP: Security forces released an Iranian citizen after two days from the hands of kidnappers in the Kohsan district of western Herat province.

Mohammad Asif Rahimi, the governor of Herat has officially submitted the released Iran’s citizen to the Iranian consulate in the city, this morning.

Rahimi said the kidnappers had abducted the Iranian citizen last Wednesday in Islam Qala – Herat highway.

According to him, Jawad, the Iranian citizen was freed after tracking operation of security forces in the village of Qodos Abad.

Herat governor added that in connection with the incident, four people were arrested.

Meanwhile, Mahmoud Afkhami Rashidi, Iran’s consul general in Herat province, said that during the past year, 12 of his country’s fellows in Islam Qala – Herat route abducted that 10 of them have been released and two others are still in the custody.

Abductions of foreign citizens are of the major problems and concerns of the people in the country and despite the efforts of security forces, the problem yet remains.
