Civilian Casualties In US Strikes In Helmand
MEP: Studies show that in a US drone strike in Sangin district of Helmand province, 18 civilians, including women and children have been killed.
On Thursday and Friday (9th and 10th February) last week, air strikes were launched by foreign forces in Sangin district of Helmand province on Taliban positions.
In this regard, the Office of the UN representative in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has announced that in the attacks, 18 civilians, including women and children, have been killed.
The statement adds that insecurity and the increase in civilian casualties in the war in Afghanistan is one of the major concerns of UN that the parties should consider in order to reduce civilian casualties.
According to the statement, the resolute-mission has also started its investigations in this regard.
Concerns are expressed while two days ago following a suicide attack in Lashkar Gah city of Helmand, six people, including a child and five military people had been killed and several wounded.
According to UNAMA’s annual report, 2016 was one of the deadliest years for civilians in Afghanistan.
