Daesh claimed responsibility behind al-Zahra mosque explosion in Kabul
At least nine people were killed and 13 others wounded in an explosion tore through inside the mosque of al-Zahra located in Dasht-e-Barchi area in PD 13 in Kabul city, Ministry of Interior said.
The blast happened shortly before 9pm on Thursday night when three suicide bombers detonated their explosives inside the hall and the kitchen.
The Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terror group claimed responsibility for the blast by posting a statement on its news agency (AMAQ).
The explosion occurred while people had gathered to observe the Lailatul-Qadr (night of power) which is held on 19th, 21st and 23rd day of Ramadan and mosques on this occasion are very crowded.
According to local media, Ramazan Husainzada, who was known as Haji Ramazan a prominent Kabul businessman was also killed in the attack.
Meanwhile, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has strongly condemned the attack calling it “a heinous act” and said the insurgents continue to target mosques and political gatherings in order to fuel ethnic and political rifts among the people.
