MP For Helmand Province Attacked By Armed Men In Kandahar
MEP: Malem Mirwali representative of Helmand province in the House of Representatives, was wounded by unidentified gunmen in the southern city of Kandahar.
Samim Khpalwak, Kandahar governor’s spokesman told the Middle East Press, Mirwali was wounded this morning (March 4) in the surrounding areas of 10th police district of the city.
He said Mirwali is currently under treatment in Kandahar’s Maiwand hospital.
Spokesman for the governor of Kandahar did not provide details on gunmen’s identity but added the people fled the area and police investigations are underway.
The armed Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and said that Mirwali has been attacked for cooperating with US forces.
The attack on Mirwali teacher comes as nearly three months ago, his house in Khushal Khan area in Kabul was attacked by armed assailants and two of his grandchildren were killed and several members of his family were wounded, including women and children.
